New Show: "All About Food", Hudson, NY

The past few weeks have been taken up by family and trips. No major new work to show at this time but I have the following announcement to share:

"ALL ABOUT FOOD" is a small one person show that openend on April 17 at the Deborah Davis Gallery, 510 Warren Street in Hudson. It will run to May 12th. There is no opening reception. The Gallery hours are Thursday through Monday, 11-5pm or by appointment.

In March I was also part of a group show entitled "Food and Nudes" at the Mark Gruber Gallery in New Paltz, NY. It was just beautiful. The show closed at the beginning of April.

Gold and Red Pear

Acrylic on gessoed paper, 11"x9"

This simple little work uses gold to symbolize the 50th Anniversary of the Phoenix Gallery in New York City. All the gallery artists are exhibiting works especially created for this occasion, starting on February 27 with a Gala Reception on March 13. For more information about this show, consult the Phoenix Gallery website at http://www.phoenix-gallery.com.

Jester And Three Pears

Oil on canvas, 24"x24"

My interest in masks and the circus inspired this one. The jester is such an interesting figure, enigmatic, silly storyteller, you name it....

For Jester and Three Pears...

Pencil on Paper, 7 1/2"x7"

A study for a painting of the same name. I already started the painting but this drawing helped me figure out some design elements.

Sweets

Oil on Canvas, 10"x20"

This is, or is very close to being finished. Many things changed since I posted the first version. I simplified the design and added colors to the background lollipops. The ribbon just did not make it. Again, working on a small canvas is sometimes frustrating to me. I am much more comfortable painting with larger brushes and broader strokes, not unlike painting my "Queens". I am open to comments!

Again...

This morning I looked at last night's entry and felt that the hand written version of "Alba Red" was not very legible in the scanned version. So thanks to photoshop, here is a version with typed text.

A little fun with a poem about color:
